26 more individuals recover from coronavirus in Georgia

Georgia has reported 26 more recoveries from the coronavirus this morning increasing the total number of recovered patients to 419.
Meanwhile, six more people tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday, bringing the total number of the cases to 677.
Unfortunately, twelve people have died from the virus-related complications, while 246 people remain infected.

Although Georgia lifted some of the restrictions within the state of emergency as the rate of coronavirus infection is currently decreasing in the country, in order to preserve the ‘positive trend’ health officials calls on citizens to:
- Wash hands frequently
- Avoid public gatherings
- Maintain social distancing
- Use face masks in closed spaces
However, 93 citizens have violated the state of emergency regulations during the last 24 hours throughout the country.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili recently stated that the number of individuals infected with the coronavirus is increasing in Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.

Reportedly, occupied Abkhazia has confirmed a total of 17 cases of coronavirus, including two recoveries and one death. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in occupied Tskhinvali region stands at 34.
Georgian frontline health workers have received 7,500 protective face shields produced by Georgian company CaucasPack from the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme. UNDP, with assistance from the EU and the US, is also ensuring that protective equipment and other medical supplies are provided to Georgia’s Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia ‘to mitigate COVID-19 risks’.
Georgia will end its state of emergency on May 22, though some restrictions will remain in place, announces the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia. On March 21 Georgia declared a state of emergency to prevent the spread of the coronavirus until April 21. This was later extended until May 22 after it was observed that the infection curve had still not been flattened.
The number of individuals infected with coronavirus is increasing in Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of Georgia Ketevan Tsikhelashvili said earlier today. As of now, 188 people have been brought from the occupied regions to Tbilisi-controlled territory amid the coronavirus pandemic.
At an online meeting with the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) from the European Union, United Nations and the OSCE, Toivo Klaar, Cihan Sultanoglu and Rudolf Michalka, Georgian Deputy Minister Lasha Darsalia spoke of the situation in the Russian-occuied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Georgia has 18 new cases of COVID-19 since yesterday, increasing the total number of cases to 695. Eight out of the infected individuals are from the quarantined Bolnisi municipality in eastern Georgia, Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today.
Georgia has reported six new cases of coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 701. 432 of the 701 patients have recovered, while 12 others have died.As of May 18, 257 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. Today, the municipality of Marneuli in eastern Georgia, which has been under lockdown for 56 days, has opened.
