The National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, a major space for cultural events in Tbilisi, has revealed plans for restarting its work and reopening its space with the anticipated end to high risk of pandemic.
In a social media update on Monday, the venue's director Giorgi Kekelidze announced preparations for employees of the library to go back to work starting early summer.
Kekelidze said later this month library professionals would resume work on books for their vaults - processing and digitising of physical publications as well as work on digital databases.
Kekelidze said physical distancing measures and personal protection means had been prepared for reopening the venue for employees. Photo via National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.
The library director also told his Facebook followers the venue had done work on preparing safety conditions for employees, from arrangements for physical distancing to personal protection means.
Reading rooms are expected to reopen starting July, with public events restarted in September.
Kekelidze also spoke about projects for opening new spaces at the library as well as its ongoing work on providing literature to small libraries in Georgia's countryside, where collections are often sparse and under neglect.
These will involve renovating vault space in one of the library buildings, setting up a museum of press at a pre-selected site in Avlabari district of Tbilisi, completing construction work on a Caucasus Book Vault in the western city of Kutaisi and more.
