More people have recovered than were infected with COVID-19 in Georgia over the past several days.
Georgia has reported six new cases of coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 610.
269 of the 610 patients have recovered, while nine others have died.

As of today 330 people remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia, while the number stood at 353 yesterday.
Head of the National Disease Control Centre of Georgia Amiran Gamkrelidze says that Georgia is hitting the seventh week since the first reported case of community transmission of the virus on March 23.
We said earlier that the sixth, seventh and the eight week since the first reported case of community transmission are the peak of the virus. Now we are observing how we will overcome the seventh and the eighth weeks since the first reported case of community transmission,” Gamkrelidze said.

He stated that the restrictions imposed in the country contained the spread of the virus.
Thanks to the imposition of the restrictions in a timely fashion we have had no sharp increase in new cases,” Gamkrelidze said.
Georgia reported the first case of coronavirus on February 26, 2020, however, the first case of community transmission was reported in late March.

Georgia has already lifted several, coronavirus-related restrictions and reopened the cities of Kutaisi and Batumi which have been on lockdown for 20 days.
The government has plans to reopen Tbilisi and Rustavi cities by the end of the week.
