Acclaimed Georgian film director Rezo Esadze dies at 86

Georgian film director, scriptwriter and actor Rezo Esadze has passed away at the age of 86.
The laureate of a number of Georgian and international awards, Rezo Esadze had made a total of eleven films and participated in more than a hundred films.
His latest production Month as One Day won the National Competition section of Tbilisi International Film Festival in 2016.

Esadze's personal exhibitions have been held in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi as well as in Munich, Geneva and Tel Aviv.
His paintings are currently preserved in private collections and in museums.
In 2001, his first poems were also published.
Internationally recognised Georgian film director Zaza Khalvashi has passed away at the age of 62. Khalvashi’s drama fantasy Namme about a girl guardian of a healing spring in a mountainous Georgian village was selected as Georgia's bid for the Academy Awards in 2019.
