Passenger traffic down by 30% at Georgian airports in Jan-March 2020

Georgia’s three international airports served 710,143 passengers in January-March 2020, which is a 30 per cent decrease in comparison to the same period of 2019, says the United Airports of Georgia.

The decline in the number of passengers is caused by suspended global air traffic, including in Georgia, explained United Airports of Georgia.

In January-March 2020 Georgian international airports served:

  • Tbilisi International Airport served 479,108 passengers - a 40% decrease y/y
  • Kutaisi International Airport served 181,675 passengers – 16% increase
  • Batumi International Airport served 47,574 passengers – 8% decrease

Meanwhile, Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia, Svaneti region, served 328 passengers in March, which was a 22% decrease y/y.

Meanwhile, Ambrolauri airport in Georgia’s Racha region, served 45 passengers (+2%) last month.
