About 350 individuals and 15 companies have been fined so far for the violation of state of emergency regulations and curfew since they came into effect on March 21 and 31 respectively to contain the spread of COVID-19, Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri said earlier today.
He stated that only 17 have violated the curfew.
We expected more violations. However, most people stuck to the rules. We are not happy to fine people and ask them to act in line with the law,” Gomelauri said.
Gomelauri stated that the government and the Georgian patriarchate will make an agreement on what to do for the Easter holiday, which will be marked on April 19 this year.
Thousands of people migrate for the holiday inside the country and gather at churches and then at cemeteries to mark the holiday.
As of now people are not able to gather in more than groups of three.
