The visitors of Lithuania’s capital city Vilnius can now walk on Georgians Street – Kartvelu Street from now on.
Georgian Ambassador to Lithuania Khatuna Salukvadze opened Kartvelu Street during the cultural days ‘the Summer of the Georgian Culture in Lithuania 2019.”

In May 2018 Lithuania’s government made a historic decision and changed Georgia’s name in the Lithuanian language. From 2018 the official title of Georgia is Sakartvelo, not Gruzija.
The decision was made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia.
Tbilisi and Vilnius are celebrating the tenth anniversary of their friendship this year.
Tbilisi Square in Vilnius hosted Ensemble Suliko’s concert in relation to the anniversary.
Georgia and Lithuania established diplomatic relations in 1994. In 2004 Georgia opened its embassy to the Republic of Lithuania.
