The Permanent Mission of Georgia to Geneva has organized the event named Human Rights Abuses and Violations in Venezuela with missions of the United States, Albania, Argentina and other countries.
The invited speakers discussed Maduro’s regime humanitarian crisis and repressions they underwent.
Georgia’s Permanent Representative Victor Dolidze stated Venezuela’s crisis hit a concerning level, having caused huge humanitarian catastrophe.
Georgia fully supports Juan Guaido’s efforts for establishment of democracy and peace… Georgia fully understands the difficulties Guaido and National Assembly are facing and shows absolute readiness for practical assistance,” Victor Dolidze said.
The concerning facts of human rights abuse including torture, illegal detention, closing independent media outlets and pressuring free political activities were discussed during the event.

By the end of the event Victor Dolidze held a meeting with the Guaido interim government representative Maria-Alejandra Aristeguieta Alvarez.
Victor Dolidze stated Georgia did not recognize the results of the 2018 Venezuela parliamentary elections adding the country supports the Venezuela National Assembly.
The parties agreed on continuation of close cooperation.
Interim President of Venezuela Juan Guaido has thanked the Georgian government for its support in the fight of the Venezuelan people for freedom and democracy. Guado made the statement during his meeting with Georgian Ambassador to Brazil David Solomonia, on the sidelines of the 11th foreign ministerial of the Lima Group composed of 14 countries in Bogota yesterday, assembled to find solutions to the political and economic crisis in Venezuela.

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has stated that Georgia firmly supports the interim government of Venezuela under the leadership of Juan Guaido and says that he is sure that the political force will win its fight against Nicolas Maduro.
Reliable sources say that the interim government of Venezuela under leader Juan Guaido will revoke Venezuela’s recognition of the two occupied regions of Georgia Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) if they manage to stay in power.
