President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan within the framework of her official visit to Armenian Republic.
The parties discussed the key aspects of development of political and economic cooperation between Georgia and Armenia.
President Zurabishvili focused on the progress in terms of Georgia’s European integration and Georgia-EU future plans.
Nikol Pashinyan stated that he conducted his first visit as the PM in Georgia that means Georgia is significant for the Armenian government.
He said Georgia and Armenia should focus on joint strategic interests during cooperation and feels very happy to see Georgia shares the point of view.
Georgian President Zurabishili stated Georgia and Armenia has a lot of in common such as geography, history and their future plans.
Salome Zurabishvili also added that the two countries should use their potential for further development of relationships.
We can do more together,” Salome Zurabishvili stated.
At the meeting it was stressed that the countries enjoy great potential to develop bilateral relations and the possibilities of using Georgia’s economic potential have increased due to free trade agreements with the EU and China.
Armenia is a tourist partner of Georgia as it is ranked third under the number of visitors of Georgia. The latter also leads according to the Armenia visitors number.
The parties have also applied to the ethnic Armenians living in Georgia, their integration in Georgia’s economic and social life, intensification of young Armenians’ involvement in it, as well as the issue of teaching the Georgian language.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has raised an issue of re-signing the cultural cooperation agreement between the countries as it expired in 2018.
Salome Zurabishvili also referred to the issue of Georgian specialists’ involvement in the rehabilitation works of Georgian cultural heritage monuments in Armenia.
