Georgian judokas claim more gold at world championship [VIDEO]

Georgian judokas Vladimer Akhalkatsi and Lasha Bekauri have won the world championship in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Akhalkatsi and Bekauri, both 19, received gold in their respective categories yesterday.
The International Judo Federation (IJF) reported that defending Junior World Champion Lasha Bekauri confirmed that he is the strongest junior in his weight division, while Vladimir Akhalkatsi who also won gold, showed that Georgia will continue to play a major role in the judo world in the years to come.
Vladimer Akhalkatsi handed a defeat to his Russian rival David Karapetyan in the under 81kg category.
Another Georgian judoka Tato Grigalashvili finished with bronze in the same weight category.

Lasha Bekauri handed a defeat to his Hungarian rival Roland Goz in the under 90kg category.
The IJF said Bekauri "is already a regular at major international events, as he was the reigning Junior World Champion and won the Cadet world title two years ago".

The Georgian national team is comprised of nine male and three female judokas, who will be competing in the coming days.
The World Championships Junior 2019, which kicked off on October 16, will last for a couple of more days.
The day earlier a Georgian judoka Eter Liparteliani, 20, also claimed her first gold by defeating a Japanese judoka Kanako Hakamata in the under 57kg category.

Georgian national water polo team will take part in the 2020 European Water Polo Championships in Budapest. Georgia is among the eight men teams that has qualified for the tournaments in four cities, including Tbilisi.
Georgian judoka Irakli Demetrashvili won gold in the +90kg category, defeating another Georgian judoka Giga Tatiashvili at the world championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan. International Judo Federation (IJF) said that “the last final of the day was a Georgian party between two friends”.
Georgia's weightlifting champion Lasha Talakhadze has earned his fourth global title and set new world records at the World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
Georgian judoka Ilia Sulamanidze has claimed silver in the world championship in Marrakesh, Morocco. Sulamanidze, 18, was defeated by Japanese Kazunari Kamigaki in the under 100kg category on Saturday.
Georgian judokas Eter Liparteliani and Mariam Tchanturia have won the under 23 European championship in the Russian city of Izhevsk. Two male judokas Jaba Papinashvili and Temur Nozadze have ended with bronze each.
The International Judo Federation has named Georgia's young athlete Lasha Bekauri as the newcomer of the year in its unofficial end of year awards.
Lasha Bekauri, the first gold medal-winner for Georgia at the 2021 Summer Olympic Games, has said he intends to use the prize money from the state to bring his mother and grandmother back from work in emigration.
Georgian judoka Eter Liparteliani has claimed bronze at the Paris Grand Slam in the under 57 kg category. The International Judo Federation (IJF) says Liparteliani, 22, has ‘confirmed that she will be one of the strong competitors of the category in the years to come’.
