3,764 road accidents have been reported in Georgia between January and August 2019, with 314 killed and 5,212 injured, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.
Of the 314 deceased, 14 were minors (under 16), while 579 other minors received injuries.
Violation of traffic rules, exceeding the speed limit and driving under the influence of alcohol were reported as top reasons of accidents.
The ministry says that compared to the same period of the last year the number of road accidents has decreased. However, the number of victims is higher.
1,820 of 3,764 road accidents took place in Tbilisi.
4,196 road accidents were reported in Georgia between January and August of 2018, with 307 killed and 5,989 injured.
In the same period of 2017 1,926 road accidents were reported, with 62 killed and 2,405 injured.
