Georgian PM, Japanese ambassador say cooperation in tourism, economic fields strengthening

Georgian PM has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia Tadaharu Uehara and spoke about Georgia’s potential for attracting FDIs from Japan and Georgia’s prospects in tourism. 

It was noted at the meeting that Georgia is one of the most perspective economic partners for Japan and also one of the most perspective economic markets for Japan export. 

Georgia’s export to Japan in January-August 2019 was $6,863,500 which amounted to 0.3 per cent of the total export.   

Georgia’s import from Japan in January-August 2019 was $128,676,400 which amounted to 2.25 per cent of the total import.          

Also, it was said that the two-month exhibition "Georgia - Homeland of Wine" held in Tokyo was one of the important steps in raising awareness of Georgian culture in Japan which should further deepen economic cooperation between Georgia and Japan. 

Gakharia supports active involvement of the Japanese private sector in the Georgian economy, in particular at the small and medium-sized enterprise level. 

Prime Minister Gakharia expressed his maximal readiness for supporting Japanese investors.
