Police detain seven for fraudulent acquisition of state property

The Georgian police have detained seven people for the acquisition of state property in a fraudulent manner, with the use of falsified documents, several days ago.

Police have reported that the detainees registered 9,000 m2 state-owned land plots along the Tbilisi Sea by means of falsified invoices and delivery and acceptance certificates.

The market cost of the land plots exceeds 164,000 GEL ($56,068/€ 50043).

The detainees face from six to nine years in jail.

Georgian police have detained an Azerbaijani national identified only as G.H. (b. 1991) for illegal possession of drugs in large quantities on July 30. Patrol police officers ordered G.H. to stop his car in order to carry out a check on July 30 in Rustavi, after which he got out of the car and attempted to escape but police arrested him.

One detained for falsifying medical diploma

Police have detained one individual for falsifying a medical diploma several days ago. Police report that the detainee, who was a director of a vocational education institution, falsified a medical diploma and gave it to another person in exchange for 950 GEL ($322/€290).

Interior Ministry issues 5,399 restraining orders in January-June 2019

The Georgian Interior Ministry has issued 5,399 restraining orders from January through June 2019. The rate exceeds the number of restraining orders issued in the same period last year - (3,292). Most of the restraining orders were issued in Tbilisi (2,655) which was followed by Imereti, Racha-Lechkumi, Kvemo Svaneti (563) and Kvemo Kartli (477).

Police detain one for falsifying tax documents

Georgian police have detained one individual for falsifying tax documents in the region of Kvemo Kartli several days ago. Police report that the detainee falsified a VAT (value added tax) invoice and bill of sale to show that he supplied materials worth 96,000 GEL ($30,664/€27,533) to several companies.
