Six Georgian towns — Kutaisi, Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi, Rustavi and Poti — will receive 100 new modern diesel (Euro 5) buses.
The buses will be given to the towns as part of the Urban Transport Enhancement Programme of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The goal of the project is to establish regular bus services in each city as well as enhance the existing transport companies and establish new ones if needed.
The total project cost is €11,800,000 including local contribution. The EBRD will allocate €10,000,000.
The bank will discuss the project approval in October, 2019.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry will receive the loan and the Municipal Development Fund will implement the project.
