Starting today Tbilisi metro working hours decrease

Starting from today Tbilisi Metro will serve passengers from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., due to the planned repair works which will continue for a year.
Up to now metro worked until 12 p.m. The previous schedule will be restored on July 1, 2020.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is financing repair work on the Tbilisi Metro system with $15 million.
The repair work includes the installation of new cables, 32 European standard ventilation systems and 28 airing tunnels.
We have a very difficult situation in Tbilisi Metro in terms of electric wiring… Since the metro was opened, these types of works have not been done yet. About 450 km cables will be replaced with modern, ISO standard cables”, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
Passengers of Tbilisi Metro have already been travelling in renovated wagons and new trains. As Kaladze said earlier this process will continue as well.
Furthermore, the development of an above-ground metro system is also planned.

Tbilisi metro drivers have stopped their strike on the third day as a verbal agreement has been reached with Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze over a gradual increase of salaries. Drivers returned to their jobs at 2 pm today and said that their salaries will rise step by step from January 2019, until the hike reaches 45 percent.
Metro drivers started their strike yesterday and have gathered in Gladni Depot currently demanding an increase in their salary from the Tbilisi mayor. Tbilisi City Hall has provided passengers with free buses appointed particularly for this day to avoid traffic around the city.
A total of 30 million GEL (about $12.35m/€10.43m) will be allocated from the state budget for the implementation of infrastructural projects in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi planned for 2019-2020.
Tbilisi City Hall will allocate slightly more than $1 million to reconstruct metro station Gotsiridze, announced Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze earlier today.
