Georgian PM: €3.4 bln in EU aid confirms Georgia is a reliable partner

Financial aid from the European Union (EU) totalling €3.4 billion is yet further confirmation that Georgia is a reliable partner of the EU, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said at a press briefing today.   

The EU has allocated €3.4 billion to Georgia. This is a very important project that will help us make Georgia more competitive. The money will be spent on several dozen infrastructural projects”, said Bakhtadze.

The money will be spent on the arrangement of roads and rail lines, ports, airports, logistic centres and border checkpoints. Some projects are planned to be completed in 2020, some in 2030.

Strengthening transport, energy and communications ties with the EU through implementation of specific projects is a priority [for us]”, said Bakhtadze.

In total 18 infrastructural projects will be implemented with the EU’s financial aid.
