A stray dog from the town of Gori in central Georgia will soon travel to California, to the United States, where he will live in the family of Hollywood editor and producer Marta Evry.
The dog named George was found by American actor and actress Juliana and Seamus Dever at a gas station near Gori when they were travelling in Georgia, fed him and could not let him go off alone.
He looked so skinny and miserable… we were unable to leave him and decided to help. We could not adopt him as now we are travelling in the Caucasus and tweeted to find a family for him,” the couple told Rustavi 2.
Anyone able to adopt a puppy from Georgia (the country)? We found this sweet boy, maybe 4 mos old, an hour from Tbilisi today.

We fed, watered, and loved on him, but couldn’t rescue bc the shelter needs a commitment of adoption. Lmk if you are interested! pic.twitter.com/uPJCHMYF8U
Evry learnt about the dog from the tweet and decided to adopt him.
The couple contacted the Dog Organisation Georgia and took the puppy into their care before it leaves for the US.
We are managing his veterinary needs, preparation to travel, and will keep him before he can fly to the US,” Sara Anna Modzmanashvili-Kemecsei and Maite Iniesta Ortiz, managers of the Dog Organisation Georgia told Agenda.ge.
Sara says that the Dever work very closely with rescue organizations in the US and they also have mixed breed, rescue dogs in their family.
Never buy, never breed dogs, so they wanted to help the pup,” Sara said.
Dog Organization Georgia has helped another puppy also that was found by their friend, so Juliana got our contacts, called me and asked if we could help with this pup,” she added.
Sara says that Dog Organisation Georgia cooperates with rescues and individuals in Georgia who support their work “and occasionally we do send dogs there, if they can only find a home in the US."
