Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has delivered a speech at the ‘International Investment Forum – Kakheti 2019’ where he called on investors to invest in the winemaking region of Georgia.
Bakhtadze said that Kakheti will become the most successful region in Georgia in terms of the implementation of the Georgian government’s inclusive growth policy.
We are making a special emphasis on regional development. We believe that strong regions mean a strong Georgia. In our economic policy, we give special priority to inclusive growth, where each citizen of Georgia will feel its benefits.
Bakhtadze said that years of wrong economic policies had left the economic structure “full of certain problems” and it needs a “purposeful policy” to change it and make the Georgian economy more competitive,
If we discuss the Kakheti region alone, we can say that only 25 per cent of its economic potential is being used”, said Bakhtadze.
While talking about the economic potential of Kakheti Bakhtadze noted its winemaking traditions, potential for developing various vegetable crops such as walnuts and olives and its tourism potential as Kakheti is “full of cultural monuments”,
The rehabilitation of important settlements will be completed by the summer of 2020 and they will be given their historic appearance. The starting point for us is inclusive growth, the economic growth that will benefit the well-being of each citizen. I am sure that the Kakheti region will be the most successful result of this policy”, said Bakhtadze.
Bakhtadze announced that similar forums will be held in every region of Georgia.
