Second round of by-elections to be held on June 9

A second round of by-elections will be held on June 9 and will take place only in the Mtatsminda district of Tbilisi, where none of the candidates managed to overcome the 50 per cent threshold during the first round, held on May 19.

The second round will take place between the two candidates - Lado Kakhadze and Shalva Shavguilidze.

Doctor Kakhadze has been nominated for Mtsatsminda MP by the Georgian Dream ruling party, while Shavgulidze is nominated by opposition European Georgia and Free Democrats parties.

The results of the first round of elections are as follows in Mtatsminda:

Lado Kakhadze –the Georgian Dream ruling party – 41 %.
Shalva Shavgulidze –Free Democrats and the European Georgia - 38.83 %.
