The national anthem was performed in a number of Georgian cities at 17:10 Tbilisi time, commemorating May 26, 1918 – the day when the Act of Independence was adopted, establishing the First Democratic Republic of Georgia.

The Independence Day is being celebrated across the world with the involvement of the Georgian Foreign Ministry and diplomatic missions abroad as well.

A number of world leaders, including Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, congratulated Georgia on its national day.
