Tbilisi City Hall launches Mtkvari River cleaning project after Estonian Embassy publishes photos of polluted river

Tbilisi City Hall has launched a project to clean the Mtkvari River after the Estonian Embassy to Georgia posted photos of the polluted river on Facebook earlier today.
All waste, plastic bottles and packages will be taken out of the river near the Metekhi Bridge.
An official from Tbilservice Group Davit Dolidze said the decision has nothing to do with the post by Estonian Embassy as the work had been already planned.
“We were instructed [to do so] by the Tbilisi mayor,” Dolidze said.
The official has also added that similar work was also conducted in previous years.
In downtown Tbilisi, a number of citizens of Georgia's capital are taking matters into their own hands to keep their streets and yards maintained.
The Tbilisi Mayor’s Office announced today that all raised pedestrian passages in the capital will be checked and renovated as necessary.
