Jan-April 2019: Georgia earns $63 mln by exporting 26 mln bottles of wine

Georgia exported about 26 million bottles of wine to 38 countries in January-April of 2019, which is a 4% increase compared to the same period of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.

In the reporting period Georgia generated $63.2 million from the sale of wine abroad – 7% increase year-on-year. 

Export of Georgian wine increased to:

  • The United States – 219,713 bottles (+108%)
  • Israel – 106,572 bottles (+102%)
  • Belarus – 604,076 bottles (+88%)
  • France – 43,938 bottles (+81%)
  • Mongolia – 106,452 bottles (+72%)
  • Canada – 66,960 bottles (+70%)
  • The Netherlands – 40,930 bottles (+37%)
  • China – 2,192,025 bottles (+22%)
  • Poland – 1,173,850 bottles (+16%)
  • Estonia – 214,502 bottles (+15%)
  • Lithuania – 179,370 bottles (+4%)
  • Russia – 16,850,331 bottles (+4%)

In January-April of 2019, 179 companies exported wine, said the Georgian National Wine Agency.

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 8.4 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+67%) and 140,000 bottles of Chacha (+68%) abroad in Q1 of 2019.
