Georgian citizens residing abroad will be able to receive passports for free in May.
Georgians living abroad with expired passports should appeal to diplomatic representations or consulates of Georgia for registration.
No age limitation will be in force throughout the process.
Minors or adults who received biometric passports earlier and whose biometric data are already available can apply for the passport online.
Generally, the cost of a passport is $130 and takes 45 calendar days to be issued in the diplomatic representations or consulates of Georgia.
Georgia goes into the new year holding 51st place on the Henley Passport index, with citizens enjoying visa-free/visa-on-arrival access to 114 destinations – two countries more than in 2018.
The central Georgian government has simplified the procedure to receive a Georgian passport for individuals residing in the Georgian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
Visas on arrival will now be available to Georgian citizens visiting Thailand from now on. Georgian citizens will be able to spend up to 15 days in Thailand after receiving a visa on arrival at the border.
