ââThe Delegation of the European Union to Georgia and the EU Monitoring Mission are launching the 2018 EU Prize for Journalism, supporting professional and ethical journalism in the country.
Conducted for 7 years already, the 2018 prize will be awarded to winners in seven categories including: best story in print or online media, best feature story in broadcast or online media, best investigative story in print/online/broadcast media, best online or print blog, opinion or column in print/online/broadcast media, the most innovative and original piece of work in print/broadcast/online media, best documentary photo reflecting EU values published in print or online media and best conflict-sensitive journalistic work.
The winners of the first six categories will receive 1,250 euros each. The winner of the EUMM Special Prize for Peace Journalism will receive a one month fellowship with the Institute of War and Peace Reporting in London.â
The rules of the EU Prize for Journalism have been inspired by the principles of the Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics and seek to encourage the professionalism and ethics in Georgian Journalism. One winner will be announced for each Prize Category. The winners will be announced by the end of 2018 at a public award ceremony.
The jury will be composed of European and Georgian media professionals, and will act in an advisory function. The opinions of the jury will be submitted to the EU Delegation and the EUMM Mission to Georgia, who will take them into account when deciding the winners.
