Georgian citizen detained by occupants near breakaway Tskinvali

Akaki Misireli, citizen of village Kere of Gori Municipality was detained near the administrative boundary line in breakaway Tskinvali (South Ossetia) by so called border guards today. The Kidnapped citizen is currently in Tskhinvali’s police department.
Russian-backed breakaway Tskhinvali calls the occupation line between Tskhinvali region and the rest of Georgia "the state border” and treats any cases of line crossing by locals as cases of "illegal border crossing” even though the line is not well differentiated in some areas.
In most cases detainees are released after paying a fine which amounts to about $30.
Five Georgian citizen were illegally detained during last month in Gori municipality. Four of them besides Misireli have already been released.
Georgian citizen Elizbar Mestumrishvili,77, detained by Russian-controlled border guards near the occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) yesterday has been released Georgia’s State Security Service has confirmed.
Georgian citizen Tamaz Iluridze has been detained by Russia-controlled border guards near the Plavismani village in Gori municipality.
According to Georgia’s State Security Service, Iluridze is accused of illegally crossing the so-called border. The EU monitoring mission has already been informed about the incident.
Two Georgian citizens Ioseb Gundiashvili, 40, and David Gerkeuli, 30, were detained late yesterday by Russia-controlled border guards near Adzvi village in Gori municipality, the State Security Service of Georgia has confirmed today.
The 84th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) has been held in Ergneti, in the village within Georgia’s eastern occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region.
According to the report, one of the most significant human rights issues were arbitrary detentions and deprivation of life by Russian and de facto authorities of the country’s citizens along the administrative boundary lines with the Russian-occupied Georgian territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Foreign Minister Janelidze plans to use high level meetings in the US to discuss human rights violations in the Russia-controlled breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
The detainee is from Kutaisi and occupants have arrested him for so-called illegally crossing the so called border at the river Enguri. The information was released by the de-facto interior ministry of Abkhazia and later confirmed by the State Security Service of Georgia.
The representatives of Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia region have left the Gali Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting today in protest as delegates from the government of Georgia refused to remove the Giga Otkhozoria’s murder case from the agenda.
