A large scale running event will take place today in Batumi on the Black Sea coast in Georgia.

It is the first time the Night Race is hosted by Batumi and the event will gather hundreds of professional and amateur runners from 32 countries.

The race starts at 19 pm and its course guides runners to numerous sights in Batumi and aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and make Batumi a remarkable venue for runners all over the world.

The event offers a half marathon (21,1 km), a fun run of about 10 km and two kids runs. The winners of the half marathon will be awarded.

The event supports carefully selected charity projects, according to organisers.

This year the amount of money gathered from the marathon will be contributed to opening an experimental classroom for children on the autistic spectrum. The project is implemented by the charity fund ‘Seeing Differently!’and envisages the creation of a special class in Tbilisi public school #98 where children will be taught according to a special model. The results and outcomes will be recorded with the aim to prepare methodological guidelines.
