New state program to support young entrepreneurs in rural Georgia

Georgia is launching a new state program "Young Entrepreneur” to support young people implement entrepreneurial activities in various regions of Georgia.

The goal of the program is to encourage young entrepreneurs in between the ages of 18-40 living in the villages of Georgia and to help attract investments in production and the realisation of agricultural products. As a result the social-economic conditions of young entrepreneurs living in rural Georgia will be improved and new job places will be created.

The program finances only start-ups of young entrepreneurs individually as well as young entrepreneurs’ cooperatives.

The 10 million GEL grant funding will finance only 40 percent of the project cost, however the project cost should not exceed over 60,000 GEL and not be less than 10,000 GEL.

"The new state program ‘Young Entrepreneur’ is a very important program and I am sure it will be very successful. It will encourage young entrepreneurs in rural Georgia”, said Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
