UN to host presentation of Shota Rustaveli stamp

The United Nations will host the presentation of a stamp of Georgia’s famous poet Shota Rustaveli, author of the Knight in the Panther’s Skin poem, to mark the 850th anniversary of Rustaveli and the 100th anniversary of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia.
The event will take place next month in New York, at the headquarters of the UN, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze stated.
He also said that for the 100th anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Georgia:
- UNESCO will host concerts by famous Georgian pianist, UNESCO Peace Ambassador Eliso Bolkvadze and Georgian folk group Basiani.
- On May 26 the Council of Europe in Strasbourg will host an event dedicated to well-known Georgian scientist Mikheil Muskheli, who was a professor of Strasbourg University, which helped lay the foundation for the idea of a united Europe.
- The Georgian estate in Leuville, France will host various cultural and scientific events in June as well and the French-Georgian memorial centre - the Leuville Georgian Academy - will be established.
The government of Georgia has announced a series of festive events to mark the 100th anniversary from the creation of the Democratic Republic of Georgia in 1918. The Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze stated today that special festive events will take place in Akhaltsikhe, in the south-west of Georgia, on the territory of Rabati castle.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has launched a new campaign dedicated to the country's 100th anniversary since gaining independence from Russia in 1918.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili hosted diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations at the joint New Year reception. Announcing 2018 as the Year of Freedom, President Margvelashvili brought a brief introduction to how Georgia developed through the 100 years since the country gained independence from Russia in 1918.

The Brazilian post office has produced a new stamp to show its respect for Georgia, marking the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia.
A unique edition of the famous Georgian poem The Knight in the Panther’s Skin by Shota Rustaveli will be displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair for one day on 9 October, which was the initiative of Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has gifted a unique and hand-painted edition of the Georgian medieval 12th Century epic poem The Knight in the Panther’s Skin by Shota Rustaveli to the United Nations (UN). The hand-painted edition of the poem is located on the second floor of the UN headquarters in New York City, close to where the meetings of the UN Security Council are held.
Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and the Made of Italy state programme have issued a post stamp dedicated to 30 years of diplomatic relations with Georgia, the Italian Embassy in Georgia revealed on Thursday.
The Georgian version of a post stamp unveiled earlier this month and celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Italy has been released, the Georgian Economy Ministry said on Wednesday.
