Georgia hosts 33% more tourists in March 2018

A total of 578,514 international travellers visited Georgia in March 2018 of which 292,017 were tourists, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

Year-on-year, the number of international travellers (tourists, transit, other) increased by 13.2 percent, while the number of tourists (individuals that spend more than 24 hours in the country) increased by 33 percent.

The countries from where the largest number of visitors came to Georgia in March 2018 were:

• Azerbaijan – 133,448 travellers
• Armenia – 109,371 travellers
• Turkey – 100,721 travellers
• Russia – 91,529 travellers
• Iran – 58,828 travellers

From European Union countries:

• United Kingdom – 74 percent increase
• Germany – 47 percent increase
• Latvia – 45 percent increase
• Lithuania – 35 percent increase
• France – 25 percent increase

The countries with the most significant increase were:

• Israel – 78 percent increase
• China – 62 percent increase
• Iran – 46 percent
• India – 43 percent increase
• United States – 35 percent increase

In the first three months of 2018, Georgia hosted 1,463,561 international visitors (15.5 percent increase) and 659,338 tourists (28.2 percent increase).
