The Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Bristol has been opened by the Georgian Ambassador in the UK Tamar Beruchashvili and the Lord Mayor of Bristol Councilor Lesley Alexander.
Alderman Derek Pickup, who had served as the head of the Bristol-Tbilisi Association will serve as the first Honorary Consul of Georgia in the UK.
The opening day of the consulate fell on the same day as the 30th anniversary of Bristol -Tbilisi friendship and the new consulate hosted more than 100 guests to mark the date.
The opening of the consulate will further enhance people-to-people relations and make cultural, economic and tourism ties stronger between Georgia and the UK,” Georgia’s Foreign Ministry said.
During the visit to Bristol Beruchashvili met with local entrepreneurs and briefed them about Georgia’s attractive investment environment, the ministry added.
