A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is visiting Georgia to discuss the country’s economic outlook with local officials.

During the visit the IMF mission will meet Georgian authorities as well as representatives from the private sector.

The development of a large-scale technical assistance program of the IMF in Georgia and the country’s macroeconomic parameters were discussed at today’s meeting between Georgia’s Economy Minister and IMF representatives.

The IMF mission noted that the current economic situation in Georgia is much better compared to what was forecast by the mission during its previous visit.

The delegation was led by the IMF mission director to Georgia Mercedes Vera-Martin.

Meanwhile, the First Review of the Extended Arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility for Georgia completed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board in December 2017 said that Georgia’s economic recovery is gaining momentum, inflation is projected to decline starting in early 2018, and the external position has strengthened.
