The fourth national tourism awards of ‘Welcome to Georgia!’ revealed 23 winners in different nominations, announced the awards organisers.
And the winners are:
- Concept hotel - Quadrum Ski and Yoga Resort
- Best spa and recreational resort – Crowne Plaza Borjomi
- Best ski hotel - Borjomi Likani
- Best seaside hotel – Sheraton Batumi Hotel
- The best value – low-cost hotel – Hostel Pushkin 10
- The best value – standard hotel – Ramada Encore Tbilisi
- The best value – premium hotel – Radisson Blu Iveria Tbilisi
- Best festival or event – Tbilisi Open Air
- Best MICE tourism - Calypso Travel and Event
- Best wine tourism - Chateau Mukhrani
- Best E-tourism - Travel Guide App
- Best traditional Georgian restaurant – Ethno Tsiskhvili
- Best hotel of international chain in Georgia - Tbilisi Marriott Hotel
- Concept café/restaurant – Barbarestan
- Best incoming tour operator – Caucasus Travel
- Best community based tourism - Nazy’s Guest House
- Best adventure tourism - Altihut 3.014
- Fastest growing company of the year in the SME segment – Wehost
- #ICreate – the most successful Georgian brand in the tourism industry - Lopota Lake Resort and Spa
- Best women entrepreneur in the tourism industry award – Tinatin Dugashvili
- Award for contribution to tourism development on behalf of Georgia’s Ministry of Economy - Giorgi Tavadze, GMT President
- Best touristic start up on behalf of Partnership Fund – Wehost
- Best young winery award - Baia’s Wine
About 350 nominees participated in the ‘Welcome to Georgia!’ project from all regions of Georgia: hotels, tourist agency, event and festival organisers, restaurants, wine companies and others.
All of them were judged by an independent jury which consisted of international and local tourism experts.
‘Welcome to Georgia!’ has been held in Georgia for the field of tourism and hospitality since 2015.
The main mission of the project is to encourage tourism and hospitality industry in Georgia and promote the awareness of the high-achieving tourism business and brands that create a positive image of the country worldwide.
The European Union, Sweden and Austria are teaming up to develop mountain tourism and organic agriculture in Georgia’s Zemo Svaneti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, and Imereti mountainous regions with a budget of €6.8 million.
Georgia has set a new record, hosting over eight million international travellers this year, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) announces. Georgia hosted 8,105,829 international travellers in January-November 2018, showing an increase of 10.6% year-on-year (y/y). Of these travellers, 4,486,595 were tourists, which is 17.2% more compared to the same period of 2017.
Georgia has taken the fourth position as the world’s most fast-growing tourism destinations in the World Tourism Organisation’s (UNWTO) 2017 report. The report reads that in 2017 the number of tourists particularly increased for trips to Egypt, Togo, Vietnam and Georgia.
Georgian cuisine will be another major motivation for tourists to discover this country, announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).
