Georgia wins 8 medals at European Sambo Championship

The Georgian national sambo team took home four gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the European Sambo Championship in Bucharest.

The championship, held in the capital of Romania, Bucharest, was productive for Georgia. The team, trained by Jondo Muzashvili, gained eight medals.

This year marks the first time a Georgian woman has ever been named champion in this specific combat sport. Nino Odzelashvili won the gold medal in the up-to-72 kg weight category among women at the World Sambo Championships.

Furthermore, team member Vakhtang Chidarashvili has become a five-time world champion in the event. Meanwhile, both Givi Nadareishvili (52 kg) and Paata Gviniashvili (90 kg) won bronze medals.

The championship started on November 9 and ended on November 11.
