US President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor John Bolton has come to Georgia and met with Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia and head of the State Security Service Vakhtang Gomelauri to discuss Georgian reforms in security and the Georgian-American relations in the field.
Regional security challenges have also been discussed, the Interior Ministry press office reported today.
Bolton, Gakharia and Gomelauri paid particular attention to the Georgian security sector reform and the planning and coordination of the national security policy,” the press office said.
The officials also discussed the possibility of creating a Georgia-US coordinative body for security, on the strategic level,” the Interior Ministry says.
Bolton reaffirmed his support to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and vowed the US’s further support for the country’s defence and security fields.
