The Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office  has released an audio recording to the public today that allegedly involves figures in the Khorava Murder case.

This new release, comes in the wake of the October 14 release by Rustavi 2 of a related  audio recording, in which imprisoned former official of the Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office official Mirza Subeliani claims that he has  “serious compromising materials” against the Georgian Dream leadership.

The Chief Prosecutor’s Office stated that they launched an investigation into the recordings on 12 October, before one of the three recordings would have been  released by the opposition-minded TV channel.

The office says that Rustavi 2 supposedly had an access to all the three audio recordings, which were allegedly, illegally recorded in prison in July  and October 2018.

Rustavi 2 released the audio recording which was taped in October. It is unknown why the TV channel refrained from releasing other recordings,” stated the Chief Prosecutor’s Office and aired the audio recording which was made in July.

In the audio recording released by the office Mirza Subeliani, who is detained for not-reporting the teenagers’ murder case in December 2017, supposedly speaks with the Georgian Dream lawmaker Viktor Japaridze.

In the recording Subeliani says that he has done much for the Georgian Dream leadership when he served in the Chief Prosecutor’s Office, but despite “his merit” he was abandoned by the ruling team.

He says that now he is waiting for “tougher punishment” than he deserves.

Subeliani says that if the ruling team continues to ignore him, he would tell lies about several high-profile cases to discredit the government, in order to save himself.

I will say that I have compromising materials and will tell stories. People will believe them,” Subeliani says.

Japaridze tells him that such a step is not right. Subeliani responds that he also knows that it is not the right behavior, but says “he is on the verge of insanity” in the cell.

Subeliani should have been interrogated today regarding the recordings. However, as his lawyer said the man “tried to commit suicide” yesterday and it was impossible to hold the procedure for now.

Two 16-year-old boys were stabbed on Khorava Street on 1 December 2016 in central Tbilisi. One died immediately, while another died at the hospital next day.

The father of one of the murdered boys claims that Subeliani presented obstacles to prevent a fair investigation into the murder as one of his underage relatives was allegedly involved in the murder of his son.
