The third stage of mandatory vehicle inspections will start in Georgia on October 1, 2018, announces the Georgian Ministry of Economy.

All vehicles with a capacity of 3,000 cubic centimeters or more will be required to undergo inspections.

The vehicles will be inspected following seven major criteria: brakes, steering mechanism, suspension, visibility, car lights, emissions and tires. So far, most of the problems that the inspected vehicles have are related to emissions, car lights and brakes.

As of June 20, 2018 a total of 36,394 vehicles have been inspected in Georgia and 75 percent of them (27,143 vehicles) have been found roadworthy, announces Georgia’s Ministry of Economy.

Only 5,953 addressed technical inspection centres for a second round of inspections of which 243 vehicles failed again.

Out of the inspected vehicles in the reporting period 8,532 belonged to legal entities, says the ministry.
