The Russia-controlled Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) leadership has released a 16-year-old Georgian teenager detained for so-called illegally crossing the border on June 30, near the occupation line with the village of Tchvrinisi, the Georgian State Security Service confirmed.
The teenager was released after his family paid a fine amounting to 2,000 Russian rubles (31 USD).
The Russia-controlled border guards kidnap Georgian citizens quite often and in most cases release them after paying a fine.
The Georgian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali were recognised as independent states by Russia after the Russia-Georgia 2008 war.
