Russia-controlled border guards have detained two Georgian citizens today near the Bershueti village of Gori municipality at a church on territory which is administered by Tbilisi.

Nikoloz Javakhishvili, 19, and Gocha Berianidze, 27, have already been taken to the Tskhinvali detention facility.

Three other Georgian citizens, who were together with the two illegally detained, left the territory a bit earlier and the occupying forces were unable to kidnap them.

The European Union Monitoring Mission has been informed over the detention.

The Russia-controlled border guards frequently illegally detain Georgian citizens for the "illegal crossing of the border” and in most cases release them after paying a fine, amounting to about  30-32 USD.

The whole international community except Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Nauru and Syria says that Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions are integral, historic parts of Georgia.
