The President of Asia Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao is paying an official visit to Georgia on June 13-16.
This is the first visit of the ADB President to Georgia after cooperation was launched between Georgia and the bank, and is a clear confirmation of ADB's support for Georgia, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Finance.
The visit aims to deepen and expand cooperation between Georgia and the ADB.
Nakao already met Georgia’s acting Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze yesterday along with the governor of the National Bank of Georgia, Koba Gvenetadze.
Meetings are also planned with acting Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, acting Economy Minister, and President Giorgi Margvelashvili, acting Infrastructure Minister.

The aim of the meetings is Nakao to get familiar with the implemented and ongoing projects supported by the ADB.
Meanwhile, Nakao visited the new Tbilisi University metro station, which was financed by the ADB with $34 million.
Overall, the ADB is an important partner of Georgia. The ADB participates in reforms such as capital market development, pension reform, and private-public cooperation projects.
Georgia has been a member of the Asian Development Bank since 2007. As of today, the amount of funding allocated by ADB to Georgia is estimated at $2.4 billion.
