President of Germany congratulates Georgia on Independence Day

President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has sent warm wishes to the Georgian people on Georgian Independence Day.

In his letter to President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Frank-Walter Steinmeier said: 

"This year’s celebration is exceptional for your country since it will be the 100th anniversary of the first democratic republic of Georgia,” Steinmeier wrote, adding that Georgia and Germany have gone through years of close partnership which he hopes will continue and deepen in the future. 

"Georgia has undergone a changing history and I am glad that your country has  successfully pursued political and economic consolidation and become closer to Europe in recent years,” read the letter by the German president promising that his country will further assist Georgia in implementing important reforms in the future.
