Hungary donates 32,000 euros for those affected by flood of 2015

The Government of Hungary has donated 32,000 euros in support of families affected by a major flash flood in the summer of 2015 in Tbilisi.

The funds have been allocated by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, and will be administered by the the Georgian Red Cross Organisation.

Georgia’s capital Tbilisi was hit by a deadly flash flood on the evening of June 13, 2015 which turned out to be the city’s worst human and infrastructural disaster in years.

More than 20 people lost their lives in the flood.

More than 800 people from up to 200 families lost their homes or businesses in the flooding and Tbilisi Zoo lost almost half of its animals.

The disaster damaged the infrastructure of more than 20 streets in central Tbilisi.

Szijjarto who arrived in Georgia today has a number of high-level meetings scheduled during his two-day visit to Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi.
