United States congressmen say they are determined to continue supporting Georgia's democratic development, institutional empowerment and European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Four US Congressmen who are on an official visit to Georgia met with Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili last evening.

Congressmen Peter Roskam and David Price offered the Head of the Georgian Government assurances of bipartisan commitment from the US Congress.

"The US delegation commended Georgia's progress and reforms implemented by the Government over the past few years”, the PM’s press office said following the meeting.

Roskam said that the US officials had "a very productive meeting” and the first thing that they discussed was that "we represent a bipartisan commitment in the US Congress toward Georgia”.

"We came here to make that assurance of a commitment to Georgia's integrity as a country as its moves toward Western-style democracy. . .We had a very positive exchange of views”, he said.

Congressman Price reiterated unconditional support for Georgia on behalf of the US Congress.

"We are committed to this country, and we are very appreciative of Georgia's affection for our country. We know that this is a mutual admiration”, he said.

"We want to strengthen it in every way we can”, he added.

Price noted that since the congressmen were here last year, both the US and Georgia have had major elections, and that the officials decided to return afterwards to offer their assurances that the parliamentary partnership between the two states is sound and that the US is determined to continue this friendship.
