Georgian parliament to host int’l conference on EU partnership

The conference will bring together representatives of 17 parliaments of the EU member states, EaP countries, members of the European Parliament, Georgian Government, civil society and int'l organizations.

The Georgian parliament will host an international parliamentary conference: EU and Partners – Embracing Diversity for Stronger Unity on December 4–5.

The conference aims to discuss integration with the European Union as a framework for promoting internal reforms, pointing out the benefits and challenges associated with the EU-inspired transformation.

Chairperson of the European Integration Committee Tamar Khulordava said "the conference will give us opportunities to discuss the present and the future of the engagement of the EU with its partners”.

The conference brings us, the parliamentarians of the EU member states, European Parliament and the partners together with the experts and Georgian civil society representatives to discuss how, if at all, the EU integration process promotes democracy, institution building and sustainable development within candidate and Eastern Partnership Countries”, Khulordava said.
In Georgia, we believe in standing together. "Strength is in Unity” is stated on our state coat of arms”, she added.

The conference will bring together representatives of 17 parliaments of the European Union Member States, Candidate States and Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), members of the European Parliament, Georgian government, civil society and international organizations.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Parliamentary Chairperson Irakli Kobakhidze will open the conference with welcoming remarks.
