An international exhibition designed to inform young citizens on environmental issues will open for visitors in three Georgian cities starting with Tbilisi later this week.

The display Rethinking - Learning from Nature will invite young visitors to see illustrations on natural elements and get their hands on interactive stands for practical learning about nature and the challenges facing it.

Launching at the Goethe Institute Georgia on February 16, Rethinking will specifically seek to promote matters of ecology among school students and teachers as well as ensure environmental teaching goes beyond classrooms.

Situated in the Goethe Institute Conference Hall, the main exhibition area will centre around four elements of nature in its exploration of environmental concerns.

[The event] follows the four elements of water, fire, earth and air. A section of the exhibition is dedicated to each of these four elements”, said a description of the show by Goethe Institute.

The display will represent the "significance and usefulness” of every element, while the presentation of the exhibits was created to convey the message of the "era of rethinking” — a review of human civilisation’s approach to Earth’s natural resources.

Organisers of Rethinking - Learning from Nature said the event aims to show that technological progress and protection of nature "do not contradict each other per se”, and target "school-age children and young people” with the message.

Running in Tbilisi through March 21, the event will then open in the central Georgian city of Kutaisi, as well as in Kakheti regional centre Telavi in the country’s east.

The display will be organised within the framework of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Germany, which will be marked with various cultural projects throughout the year.

The exhibition is coming to Georgia after having been hosted in over 25 European cities including Moscow, Oslo and Bucharest throughout 2016.

Rethinking was also on display in North and South American cities including Toronto, New York and Montevideo from 2015-2017 and is currently on display in Ankara, Turkey.
