Georgia, Romania discuss economic cooperation

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Romanian Minister for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship Ilan Laufer discussed deepening bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Romania.
During their meeting yesterday, the two ministers spoke about Georgia’s investment environment, ongoing reforms and macroeconomic indicators.

They also discussed the idea of holding joint business forums next year and the establishment of direct flights.
During the meeting Kvirikashvili and his Romanian colleague emphasised Georgia’s role as "an important corridor between Europe and Asia”.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated at today’s Georgia-Estonia business forum in Tbilisi that the country’s liberal trade regime, low taxes and strategic location made Georgia as a regional leader for investment opportunities.
Georgia is the ninth among the world’s 190 countries according to the 15th anniversary edition of the World Bank Group’s annual Doing Business report. Georgia has also implemented the most reforms in the past 15 years, totaling 47, followed by Kazakhstan and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, with 41 each.
Small and medium-sized businesses in Georgia are now able to receive all information about the possibilities and benefits of free trade with the European Union (EU) through a recently launched online platform.
Georgia and Romania pledge to intensify economic and political cooperation and the Prime Ministers of the two states have issued a joint declaration to this end.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze has sent congratulations to Romania on the occasion of its national day. Great Union Day celebrated on December 1 is the national holiday in Romania.
