Georgia’s Finance Minister joins OECD Eurasia Week 2017 in Almaty

Georgia’s Finance Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili is paying an official visit to Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he is participating in the OECD Eurasia Week 2017 forum.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Eurasia Week aims to create an opportunity to further strengthen relations between the countries of the region and the OECD. It serves as a platform for a discussion on a broad spectrum of thematic issues relevant to further improving the region’s competitiveness.

Georgian Minister Kumsishvili delivered his speech at the forum opening day, where he talked about Georgia’s economic situation and current reforms.

Within the visit Kumsishvili will meet with high officials from the host country as well as with other officials participating in the forum and business sector representatives.

Kumsishvili has already met Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev today. The officials highlighted progress in bilateral trade, tourism, and transport fields, however they said there was still big potential to further develop cooperation in various sectors of the two economies.

OECD Eurasia Week 2017 opened on October 23 and will come to a conclusion on October 25.

This is the first time that the OECD Eurasia Week is taking place in Almaty.
