The Government of Georgia press office has announced that by the demand of Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, an Interior Ministry border police helicopter will serve the country’s mountainous Tusheti region during the whole winter season, as it did last year.

For the interests of the local population, as well as for the safe and comfortable transportation of tourists, the helicopter will fly to and from Tusheti weekly,” the press office reported.

The statement came shortly after there has been heavy snow and bad weather-related complications in Tusheti.

The Government of Georgia press office stated that foreign tourists in Omalo, Tusheti, are safe and moving without obstacles.

One local with health complications, whose life is not at risk, is being transported to a hospital in Tbilisi,” the press office reported.
