Deputy Head of the Analytical Department of Georgia’s State Security Service, Kakhaber Kemoklidze, says that Georgia has once again demanded the arrest of Russian-controlled border guard Rashid Kanjiogli who killed Georgian citizen Giga Otkhozoria last year.
The security official stated this in the wake of the Gali Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting today, discussing topics of conflict between Georgia and its western occupied region of Abkhazia.
We also condemned the illegal erection of border signs at Khurcha-Nabakevi section and the illegal detention of Georgian citizens for so-called illegal crossing of the border,” Kemoklidze said.
He said that the prohibition of the teaching of Georgian language in schools in occupied Abkhazia was also within the discussions.
Kemoklidze stated that all the issues raised at the meeting would be discussed at the Geneva international format.
This was the 49th meeting in Gali.
The next meeting is scheduled on October 25.
