Azerbaijan, Turkey and the United Kingdom were Georgia’s top investors in 2016, show the latest adjusted data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
More specifically, these top three countries invested the most in Georgia in 2016 were in the following order:
Overall Georgia attracted $1565.9 million in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in 2016, down 4.8 percent from the preliminary data of 2016 and up 0.1 percent from the adjusted data of 2015 year.
The largest share of FDIs ($671.9 million) was allocated to the transport and communications sector, followed by the construction sector ($129.5 million) then the financial sector ($129 million).
