Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has responded to the Russian top officials planned visit to Georgia’s western occupied Abkhazia region and stressed it is an attempt from Russia "to legalize the occupation of forcibly seized historic Georgian lands.”

Kvirikashvili highlighted the importance of the peaceful resolution of the Russia-Georgia conflict through the involvement of the country’s strategic allies.

Of course  we should do everything to regulate the conflict in a constructive manner and reconcile  out people living on both sides of the occupation line. This is our major goal and I have no suspicious that we will successfully meet the goal,” Kvirikashvili stated.

Russian media reports that President Vladimir Putin is planning his visit to occupied Abkhazia on August 8, on the day when the Russia-Georgia war launched in 2008.
